New June Store Update - Brand New Avatars!

Happy June! We’re excited to welcome this month with our new avatars and backgrounds update are uploaded into the Practice Space shop.

In case you missed it: We update the Practice Space shop monthly so that your students can keep their app looking fresh and lively! Our main goal is always to enhance the platform with features that are both entertaining and educational.

Here’s the breakdown. Your students can add avatars and backgrounds to their inventory to switch out as they please. Don’t forget students can only purchase from the Practice Space shop after completing their practice goal for the day! (Hooray for motivation!)

You can find the new June composer update below! We’ve put together a fabulous group of composers who have all written compositions inspired by the summer season. Keep an eye out for the YouTube link to each composers’s summer-themed piece!

Each avatar comes with their own quotes so the historical individual can tell us about their life and musical career. Below you will find the four composers for this month and the facts they’ll share on the app. We’ve also included a little biography for each composer as well as a link to a famous work for you to share with your students. The learning never ends!

George Gershwin (September 26, 1898 - July 11, 1937) was an influential American composer and pianist, celebrated for blending jazz with classical forms in iconic works.

Facts in app:

  1. I was a song plugger in New York's famous Tin Pan Alley, where I played new songs to promote music sales.

  2. I wrote more than 700 songs, many of which became standards in the American music repertoire.

  3. I composed scores for Broadway theater shows and Hollywood films most notably during the 1920s and 1930s.

  4. I was one of the first major composers to bridge the gap between popular music and classical music

Tereso Carreño (December 22, 1853 - June 12, 1917) was a Venezuelan pianist, composer, and conductor, celebrated for her virtuosic skill and pioneering contributions to classical music.

Facts in app:

  1. I gave my first piano performance at the age of eight.

  2. Known as the "Valkyrie of the Piano," I toured extensively around the world.

  3. I composed over 75 works, including piano pieces and operas!

  4. I was one of the first female conductors!

Isaac Albeniz (May 29, 1860 - May 18, 1909) was a Spanish pianist and composer renowned for integrating Spanish folk music into classical compositions.

Facts in app:

  1. I was a musical prodigy and performed my first concert at age 4!

  2. By age seven, I had passed the entrance examination for the Paris Conservatoire, but I was too young to be admitted!

  3. The Queen of Spain awarded me a scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels!

  4. I composed pieces for piano and guitar.

John Ireland (August 13 -1879 – June 12,1962) was an English composer and teacher known for his distinctive blend of romanticism and impressionism in his chamber music, choral works, and solo piano works.

Facts in app:

  1. I entered the Royal College of Music in London at the age of 14!

  2. I served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Luke's Church, Chelsea.

  3. i composed a wide range of music, including choral works, songs, chamber pieces, and piano concertos.

  4. My music often includes subtle, personal symbols and themes, reflecting my introspective and somewhat mystical view of the world.
