NEW FEATURE: Shared Libraries in Practice Space

At Practice Space, we’re constantly innovating to ensure music teachers and studios have the tools they need to inspire their students and streamline their work. With our latest feature—Shared Libraries—we’re taking collaboration to the next level. Whether you’re a solo teacher, part of a larger studio, or running a music school, this new feature is designed to make sharing educational content and resources easier than ever.

What Are Shared Libraries?

Shared Libraries on Practice Space allow studios and teachers to create and share custom libraries filled with curriculum, lesson plans, and other educational resources. This feature is flexible, customizable, and designed to meet the unique needs of music educators.

Here’s how it works:

  • Studios can create shared libraries for teachers: Piano teachers can access piano-specific content, violin teachers can use tailored resources, and so on.

  • Teachers can create their own libraries: Share educational content and lesson ideas with fellow teachers to promote collaboration and professional growth.

  • Permissions ensure content control: Each library includes permission settings, allowing admins to decide how content is managed and accessed.

Benefits of Shared Libraries

  1. Streamline Curriculum Sharing
Gone are the days of juggling emails, file-sharing links, or physical copies of resources. With Shared Libraries, admins can upload and organize a studio’s curriculum and make it instantly available to relevant teachers. Whether it’s a lesson plan, a practice schedule, or a new piece of repertoire, everything is just a click away.

  2. Customize for Specific Groups
Music studios often cater to a diverse range of instruments, levels, and teaching approaches. Shared Libraries allow you to create separate collections tailored to specific groups. For instance, teachers can have access to one set of materials for beginner students, and another set of materials for advanced students. This ensures everyone has exactly what they need, without being overwhelmed by irrelevant content.

  3. Promote Collaboration Among Teachers
Teachers can use Shared Libraries to work together and share their expertise. Have a great new idea for a practice challenge or an innovative way to teach a tricky concept? Add it to a library and let your fellow teachers benefit! This feature fosters a sense of community and teamwork within studios.

  4. Save Time with Permissions
With customizable permissions, Shared Libraries give studios full control over their content. Permissions are divided into three roles:

    • Admin: Can fully manage the library, including editing and organizing assignments.

    • Editor: Can edit assignments within the library.

    • Viewer: Can only view assignments without making changes.

This structure ensures that resources are organized, secure, and used appropriately.

How to Use Shared Libraries

Getting started with Shared Libraries is easy:

  1. Navigate to the Libraries section on Practice Space.

  2. Create a new library. Give it a name and add the details of the library’s purpose.

  3. Select members to be added to the library.

  4. When you select the library from your list, you can then add assignments, files, and adjust permissions for each user.

You can also update and add to libraries over time, ensuring your resources are always fresh and relevant!

Why Shared Libraries Matter

At the heart of the Shared Libraries feature is a commitment to collaboration and efficiency. As a music educator, your time is valuable, and your focus should be on teaching and inspiring your students—not on managing files and materials. This feature eliminates common pain points, allowing studios and teachers to work smarter, not harder.

Shared Libraries also open the door for innovation and growth. By sharing ideas and resources, teachers can learn from each other and elevate their teaching methods. Students benefit too—receiving a richer, more cohesive learning experience.
